Major roadworks are scheduled to cause significant disruption on the A23 and A27 corridors, with overnight closures planned along a key section between Mill Road roundabout and Dale Hill Junction.

All adjacent connecting routes will also be affected by the restrictions.

The closures will operate between 8pm and 6am, with works anticipated to commence on or after Monday, September 21, 2026.

The programme of junction realignment activities and associated tasks is expected to continue for approximately two months.

Multiple additional restrictions will apply throughout the works period.

All lay-bys and bus stops positioned alongside the affected A23 stretch will be closed around the clock.

Roads providing access to and from the northbound carriageway of the A23 at the Dale Hill Junction intersection with the A281 will also be subject to 24-hour closures.

A temporary 50mph speed limit will be enforced continuously along the northbound section of the A23, while a width restriction of 2.3 metres will be in place in lane 2 of the northbound carriageway.

The junction realignment scheme has been commissioned specifically to enhance road safety conditions in the area.

Diversionary routes will utilise the A23, A24, A27, A259, A272, and A283.

Comprehensive signage will be deployed to guide affected motorists.

The formal order implementing these restrictions takes effect on September 19, 2026, and remains valid for a maximum duration of 18 months, concluding upon completion of the works.
