Gobsmack Comics reopens at Swan Walk Horsham after glass fall closure

Published on

A retailer within a Swan Walk shopping centre in Horsham has resumed trading following a weeks-long closure caused by falling glass from the ceiling.

Gobsmack Comics reopened this week after being forced to close in July when the incident occurred.

The entire shopping complex had been inaccessible to shoppers, though a limited number of outlets received permission to resume operations earlier this month once protective netting had been installed throughout the premises.

Additional retailers have since been granted permission to resume business as part of a phased programme implementing safety measures.

Among the most recent establishments to reopen are Sports Direct, Grape Tree, and The Fragrance Shop.

In a statement issued through social media, Gobsmack Comics communicated that independent businesses operating within the centre would require support from the local community following the extended closure period.

A store representative indicated that the path toward full recovery would prove lengthy and challenging for all businesses affected.

The statement also called upon members of the public to share information about the appeal and to consider shopping locally where possible.

The temporary closure came after a particularly challenging period for the comic book retailer, which had announced in January that it faced the possibility of permanent closure due to increasing operational costs and declining customer numbers.

The shopping complex intends to host an event during the first weekend when the entire centre resumes full operation, with further details expected to be announced shortly.
