Mobile signal problems are affecting daily life in Chichester, according to a local survey.
An investigation conducted by the area’s MP found that the vast majority of those questioned reported consistent mobile coverage issues whenever they visited the city centre.
The research revealed that 85 per cent of participants experienced poor signal during each trip into the town.
Nearly 70 per cent of respondents rated their mobile coverage as very poor when in the area.
The survey also found that more than three-quarters of those taking part were unable to send text messages, use online banking services, access other essential digital tools, or make and receive phone calls while in the city centre.
The MP has formally contacted all major mobile network operators to present the findings.
While acknowledging the work being done through the Chichester OpenDigital initiative, which aims to enhance connectivity infrastructure along several key streets including North Street, South Street, East Street and West Street, she emphasized that physical infrastructure improvements must be accompanied by investment from the network providers to deliver meaningful change for users.
