Supporters with visual impairments attending matches at the Amex Stadium are set to benefit from improved accessibility measures introduced by Brighton & Hove Albion.
The football club has partnered with Guide Dogs to deliver specialist training in sighted guiding techniques to employees and volunteers.
The initiative aims to ensure that fans with sight loss can attend and enjoy matches more easily.
Specialist instruction was provided by Nicola Schwarz, sighted guide training officer at Guide Dogs.
According to the charity, sighted guide training represents a practical and straightforward approach to making a tangible difference for people with visual impairments.
The training focuses on equipping staff to offer appropriate assistance while also increasing understanding of the challenges faced by individuals with sight loss in their daily lives.
Those taking part in the instruction included members of the clubs Here to Help accessibility team, reception and security personnel, and volunteers from the Seagulls Disabled Supporters Association.
Participants learned specific techniques, appropriate language, and hands-on skills to guide supporters with sight loss confidently throughout the stadium environment.
Katie Haines, disability liaison officer at Brighton & Hove Albion, confirmed the club was pleased to collaborate with Guide Dogs on delivering the training programme to staff and DSA volunteers at the stadium.
