East Sussex College named joint-first English language provider in South East

Published on

East Sussex College has achieved recognition as one of the United Kingdom’s leading providers of English language education.

The institution has been ranked jointly first among further education colleges in the South East region alongside Chichester College in the EL Gazette UK Language School Rankings for 2026-27.

Katie Wingfield, who serves as senior international officer at East Sussex College, described the achievement as significant for the institution.

She noted that the EL Gazette rankings carry considerable weight in the English language sector due to their reliance on British Council inspection results, and that being identified as a top provider demonstrates the overall quality of the college’s educational offerings.

The college’s International Study Programme has secured a position among the nation’s elite language education providers, ranking within the top five percent of institutions nationwide.

Inspections conducted by the British Council evaluate critical aspects of educational delivery, including instructional quality, academic administration, student wellbeing, and institutional support services.

According to Ms Wingfield, the college distinguishes itself through its supportive learning atmosphere and integration with British students.

She explained that learners receive high-standard English language instruction while simultaneously accessing enrichment activities and building relationships with students from the UK and international backgrounds.

International students are admitted throughout the calendar year across the college’s campuses located in Eastbourne, Hastings, and Lewes.
