A Brighton-based beekeeping company has introduced a fresh range of beeswax-based skincare products.
The Brighton Beekeeper, operated by a family, produces the collection by hand using cappings beeswax, which comes from the thin protective seals honeybees construct over mature honey.
The lineup encompasses treatments for skin, facial hair, lips, and companion animals.
Among the offerings is a fragrance-free pet preparation created alongside Fur & Forever, a Brighton company specialising in memorial jewellery for animals.
Jack Lockyer, who established The Brighton Beekeeper, explained that beeswax formed the foundation of the range, though considerable effort went into selecting complementary ingredients.
He noted that texture upon opening, how readily the product absorbs, and fragrance all contribute to creating something suitable for regular use.
According to Mr Lockyer, the company values its heritage and artisanal methods.
He indicated that the business maintains its family beekeeping operations while crafting the products locally in Brighton, allowing customers to discover another dimension of what the company offers beyond honey alone.
The collection features several distinct preparations.
Nectar and Lime Body Butter provides intensive moisturising properties combined with notes of lime, sweet orange, and jasmine.
Cedar and Smoke Beard Balm suits both short stubble and longer facial hair, incorporating honey, warm cedar, and subtle smoky undertones.
Hedgerows and Honey Lip Balm combines raspberry, blackberry, and honey flavours.
Nose and Toes Pet Balm addresses dry noses and paw pads in both dogs and cats without added fragrance.
The pet preparation relies on the same beeswax, butter, and oil foundation as the beard balm but omits any scented additions.
Cappings beeswax, harvested by beekeepers during honey collection, enables the preparations to retain moisture effectively.
The supplementary butters and oils are chosen for their conditioning qualities and the sensory qualities they contribute.
All items designed for human application have undergone required cosmetic safety assessments.
