Two individuals have been charged with offences related to the assault of a police officer following an altercation that erupted outside a pub in Kemp Town.
Emergency services attended the scene near St James’s Street after receiving reports of the disturbance shortly before 11pm on the evening of September 25.
One of the men sustained an injury to his arm and required hospital treatment.
Wesley Douglas, aged 55 and residing at Ashton Rise in Brighton, alongside Oliver Rowsell, aged 21 from Bowering Way in Brighton, each face a charge of assaulting a police officer.
Investigating officers confirmed that multiple people became involved in the incident.
Both defendants have been scheduled to appear at Brighton Magistrates’ Court on December 18.
Detectives have urged any members of the public who witnessed the altercation or possess relevant CCTV or mobile phone footage to contact Sussex Police.
