Restaurant Interlude in Lower Beeding, near Horsham, has been included in La Liste’s 2026 selection of the world’s 1,000 leading restaurants.

The establishment received a score of 82.5 out of 100.

La Liste combines feedback from gastronomic guides, publications and customers to produce annual global rankings of hotels, restaurants and pastry shops.

Its 2026 restaurant list contains 79 entries from the UK.

Interlude provides Michelin-starred cuisine within the grounds of the historic Leonardslee Lakes & Gardens.

Its seasonal tasting menu consists of several courses and uses produce gathered from the surrounding 240-acre estate.

The restaurant said that its cooking combines established methods with contemporary techniques while closely following the natural changes of each season and bringing the gardens into the dining experience.

Executive chef Jean Delport has previously been a finalist in the Great British Menu banquet.

Interlude has held a Michelin star since 2019 and has also held four AA rosettes since 2020.

Michelin’s guide said the Estate Experience tasting menu draws on seasonal produce from the estate.

Delport’s South African background influences dishes such as carrot biltong, which forms part of the signature Rabbit Eats Carrot course.

The guide also noted that many wines on the list come from South Africa, including bottles produced at the restaurant’s own Benguela Cove estate.

Leonardslee House, which houses Interlude, has received a Michelin Key, placing it among the world’s leading hotels.

Another Sussex hotel included in La Liste’s restaurant rankings was Gravetye Manor in West Hoathly, which received 78 out of 100.

Interlude has a 4.6-out-of-five rating on Tripadvisor based on more than 150 reviews.

Customers have praised its food, service and overall experience.

One visitor said it served some of the best food the reviewer had ever eaten.

The visitor also described the visit as a complete experience involving the lounge, a short demonstration en route to the restaurant and a return to the lounge after dining, concluding that neither the food nor the service had any evident shortcomings.

A second reviewer explained that the visit formed part of a culinary tour of the UK.

Having previously seen the chef appear on Great British Menu, the reviewer chose to visit Interlude in person.

The food was described as exceptional, with close attention paid to detail and flavour before dishes left the kitchen.

The visitor praised the experience overall.

La Liste also published a 2026 ranking of the world’s best hotels, including 91 UK properties.

Alexander House and Utopia Spa, situated just beyond Turners Hill near Crawley, were selected for the global list of 1,000 hotels and received 95.5 out of 100.

Gravetye Manor in East Grinstead was another Sussex hotel included in the hotel rankings, earning 92 out of 100.

The property is a Michelin-starred restaurant and luxury country-house hotel dating from the 16th century.

It stands within 1,000 acres of West Sussex countryside.

One visitor described Gravetye Manor as the finest spa in Sussex.

The same review praised the helpful and polite staff, the cleanliness and facilities of the hotel and Utopia Spa, the accommodation and the food and drink.

The surroundings were also highlighted for their quiet setting, attractive location and picturesque grounds.
