A “popular” footpath has reopened after being closed for weeks.
The route, running from Coldean Lane at the A270 junction to the footbridge over the A27 and into Stanmer Park, was closed for around four weeks to allow for improvement works.
Funded by a grant from the South Downs National Park Authority, the project has widened the path and provided a safer surface.

Councillor Alan Robins, cabinet member for sport, recreation and libraries, said: “We know how well used this path is by local residents and park users, so it’s great that’s it’s now safer and more accessible for everyone to enjoy.”
Work on the route follows extensive ash dieback and tree management in the area at the beginning of the year to prepare the site for improvements.

The new footpath features a grid system topped with stone and grit.
This design improves grip, especially on steeper sections and during wet weather.
During the closure, walkers were diverted via the upper footbridge to ensure continued access to Stanmer Park.
