An independent website that has compiled data on schools across England has ranked its top ten in Sussex.
The School’s Guide, which uses data from the Department of Education and the Office for National Statistics, ranks St Oscar Romero Catholic School in Goring as the best in Sussex.
The website scores educational establishments out of 100 across up to ten performance indicators, with an overall score reflecting an average ranking across all categories.
St Oscar Romero achieved an overall score of 75 out of 100, with the categories of ‘progress’, ‘attendance’, ‘attainment’ and ‘disadvantaged pupils’ rated as ‘excellent’.
The school previously achieved ‘outstanding’ in all five categories at its last Ofsted inspection in April last year.
Other indictors covered in the rankings include school environments and post-school destinations.
Millais School in Horsham took second place with a score of 71.
The girl’s school was particularly singled out for its proportion of students going on to education or training at 16, which was described as “very high”.
