It wrote: “Saltdean Lido and Reading Room are coming together to shape the next chapter of the café and restaurant—introducing a refectory and dining experience where seasonality is celebrated, local produce is honoured, and every detail is thoughtfully considered.
“Together, we’re excited to bring a refreshed offering to this much-loved space, building on its heritage while creating something new for the community to enjoy.”
The current café and restaurant will close from April 23 and will reopen as Reading Room at Saltdean Lido on May 1.

The Reading Room café opened on Madeira Drive, Brighton, in November 2024 as part of the Black Rock rejuvenation project.
The café’s site, the historic Brighton reading room, was built in 1835 and designed originally to provide shelter for residents of Lewes Crescent seeking a place to read in comfort with a view of the sea.
The restaurant serves a range of dishes offering breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner.
